Local travel guide

The practical side of an easy Ohrid stay.

A concise starting point for timing, walking, weather and the little details that make the city easier to enjoy.

Getting around

Central Ohrid and the old town are compact enough to explore on foot. Comfortable shoes matter: the old streets include polished cobbles, uneven surfaces, slopes and stairs.

When to walk

Summer afternoons can be hot and crowded. Morning and evening walks are gentler, with softer light and a calmer atmosphere. Carry water and sun protection in warmer months.

Money and tipping

North Macedonia uses the denar. Cash remains useful for small purchases and tips, even where cards are widely accepted. Ask before relying on card payment at small local venues.

Accessibility

Parts of the waterfront are level, but the historic route is not wheelchair accessible. See the tour details or contact Damian before booking if mobility is a concern.

Local accuracy

This guide intentionally avoids pretending every recommendation is timeless. Seasonal opening hours and local conditions change; use the tour to get up-to-date suggestions during your visit.
